Turning Point is Union County&#8217;s shelter for victims of domestic abuse. Turning Point also has a Resale Shop of &#8220;gently used&#8221; women&#8217;s clothing at 1401 D West Roosevelt Blvd. Many of the clothes are designer brands that are of excellent quality.<br />

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Safe Shelter: Safe shelter is provided to victims of domestic violence and their children 24 hours a day 7 days a week. Turning Point has a written Intake Policy. This policy includes procedures for ensuring safety for victims with mental or physical health problems, male children, and substance abuse problems. In the shelter 3 nutritious meals a day are provided. The average daily occupancy is 24.</p>
<p>Crisis Line: A staff member or trained volunteer provides immediate response 24 hours per day 7 days per week to crisis calls. This service provides confidential crisis telephone counseling. Turning Point has 2 incoming lines dedicated for Crisis Calls so you can easily reach us.</p>
<p>Crisis Intervention &amp; Referral: Crisis Intervention services are available on the telephone or in person 24 hours a day by trained volunteer or staff.</p>
<p>Women&#8217;s Counseling: Individual and group counseling is provided by the Women&#8217;s Counselor for victims of domestic violence.<br />
Legal Advocacy: Turning Point&#8217;s legal advocate and volunteers are available to educate victims  concerning what legal services are available to protect them. They are also available to accompany them to court for emotional support. Women residing at the shelter meet with the Legal Advocate a minimum of one time during thier stay at Turning Point. It is not necessary to be staying in the shelter to receive legal advocacy.</p>
<p>Functional Living: A Case Planner develops a &#8220;Functional Living&#8221; plan with each shelter resident, which addresses needs such as: housing, employment, transportation, and health care. Progress with this plan is reviewed weekly by a staff member or volunteer. In addition, shelter residents participate in a &#8220;Life Skills&#8221; educational program that addresses such areas as domestic violence education, HIV education, housekeeping, and money management.</p>
<p>Children&#8217;s Program: The Children&#8217;s Program consists of referrals, parent education, and an educational based group counseling program specifically designed for child observers of domestic violence.</p>
<p>Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program: The Teen Dating Violence Prevention Program addresses the dynamics of teen dating violence. This program is provided in the shelter, in the schools, and in the faith community.</p>
<p>Volunteer Program: Trained volunteers provide direct services to victims of domestic violence and their children staying in the shelter.</p>
<p>Transitional Housing: A woman who has successfully completed the shelter program may be eligible to reside at Cassie&#8217;s Place, Turning Point&#8217;s transitional house. Women residing at Cassie&#8217;s Place pay rent and continue to receive Turning Point services in a supervised, yet less structured, environment.</p>
<p>Community Education: Staff and Volunteers are available to educate the community about agency services and domestic violence.</p>
<p>Transportation: In emergency situations transportation is coordinated with Monroe Law Enforcement Center and the Union County Sheriff&#8217;s Department.</p>
<p>Non-Shelter Counseling: Individual and group counseling is provided to women and thier children who are not residing in the shelter.</p>
<p>These services are provided without cost at Turning Point&#8217;s Shelter. The goals of the services are to help victims of domestic violence and their children to break the generational cycle of violence and to help her develop a violence free life style.</p>
<p>Turning Point maintains Fire, Property, Personal and Board Liability Insurance. Individuals who have access to financial resources are bonded.
