Two American Red Cross Blood Drives
The American Red Cross of Union County is asking for the public’s support in two upcoming blood drives, one on Sunday May 27th and the other on Monday May 28th.
The one on Sunday May 27th will take place at Bruster’s Ice Cream of Indian Trail, located at 531 Indian Trail Road in Indian Trail, NC from 3pm to 7:30pm. This drive has a special theme titled “Give a Pint, Get a Pint,” where everyone who donates will receive a FREE pint of Bruster’s Ice Cream as well as a FREE American Red Cross tote bag.
The drive on Monday May 28th will take place at the Food Lion of Wingate, located on 221 West Highway 74 in Wingate, NC from 10am to 2:30pm. Again all donors will receive a FREE American Red Cross tote bag.
Everyone is encouraged to come out and donate, but a special need is for those with types O negative, O positive, B negative and A negative, for these are currently in short supply. The weeks following a holiday weekend usually see a significant dip in the inventory of blood, making your donation even more important.
The American Red Cross of Union County is part of the Carolina’s Blood Region, which ships about 1500 units of blood a day to approximately 100 hospitals. Blood is in constant need because it has a shelf life of only 42 days, and by donating one pint of blood you could save up to three lives.
