Monroe Mall Sponsors Fashion + Passion to Benefit the American Red Cross
February 8, 2007 Monroe, NC – Monroe Mall, in conjunction with the American Red Cross, will be launching their first ever Fashion + Passion fashion show March 1, 2007, at 6:30 pm. This exciting event will showcase local Community Heroes (representatives from law enforcement, fire services, public education, community activism, and public service) acting as fashion aficionados, as they raise money for the Red Cross. Fashion show participants will model clothing provided by JC Penny, Belk, Sears, Peebles, Pac Sun, Renn’s Nest, Men’s One, and Regis. They will encourage audience support in voting them the Fashion+ Passion Ultimate Hero.
“We are thrilled to have the opportunity to serve Union County by hosting this special event for the American Red Cross,” states Caroline Adams, Director of Marketing Monroe Mall. “The Red Cross is an integral part of our community assisting all in times of need.”
All proceeds from the Monroe Mall Fashion + Passion will benefit the Heroes for the American Red Cross Fund Raising Campaign chaired by Sheriff Eddie Cathey and Commissioner Allan Baucom. Approximately 75 American Red Cross Heroes are being recruited to raise $1,000 for the local American Red Cross in three weeks during the month of March. As part of the event, Community Heroes and the Red Cross Fund Raising Heroes will be honored with a reception and thanked for their efforts in supporting the work of the local American Red Cross.
“I have been involved with the Red Cross Heroes campaign for four years,” reports Sheriff Cathey. “The Red Cross is a great organization that provides very important services to our community. This fashion show will be our official kickoff to our fund raising campaign and I urge everyone to come out to support your favorite Community Hero.” Co-Chair, Allan Baucom, adds, “The Heroes campaign is important because the funds raised in Union County, stay in Union County. If your house burns down, you can count on the American Red Cross to be there thanks to many volunteers involved in this effort.”
The Heroes Campaign is an excellent way for the American Red Cross to meet its commitment to provide emergency services for Union County. Hero funds support disaster relief, armed forces emergency services, blood collections, and preparedness/lifesaving classes.
“This is a great opportunity to partner with Monroe Mall,” reports Kathy Bragg, Red Cross executive director. “We appreciate their support by providing our Heroes Campaign kickoff venue, and the fashion show is sure to be a fun night for all. We hope the public will come out and support their favorite Hero fashion model on March 1st.”
