Red Cross Offers Babysitting Training Courses
Monroe, NC November 15, 2006 – Many youths ages 11-15 choose babysitting as the preferred means to make money. However, with the large number of applicants vying for that babysitting job, they need an edge over the competition. This edge can be found in the American Red Cross of Union County’s Babysitters Training Program. This program, which is designed to be interactive and activity based, teaches some of the basic skills needed to be a successful babysitter, including:
- First Aid—Get straight-forward advice on how to manage everything from scrapes and bruises to life-threatening emergencies.
- Safety and Safe Play—Learn how to choose toys and activities which are age-appropriate and safe, to prevent injuries by watching out for safety-related problems and fixing them, and how to guide children in safe play.
- Leadership—Find out the best ways to negotiate, mediate, and encourage positive behavior.
- Basic Care— Feeding and diaper changing can be, well, kind of messy. Learn how to handle these situations, and other babysitting basics, like a pro!
- Professionalism— What should you ask during a babysitting interview? What do you need to know to have a safe and responsible babysitting experience? How should you act when you are “on the job”? We’ll teach you how to put your best babysitter foot forward in all situations.
The classes cost $35 and are taught at our new Stallings location, located at 623 Stallings Road, Stallings, NC, 28104. We schedule one about once a month, with our next class occurring on December 16, 2006 from 9:00am – 3:45pm. You must be at least 11 years old to enroll and register prior to the class date.
